Boys U12 Arab Bank Football Tournament
Friday, 31 October 2014
The International Academy Amman was thrilled to host the action-packed Boys U12 Arab Bank Football Tournament over the weekend. Fans were treated to the thrills and spills of football as they watched ten school teams battle their way through wind and rain to the top. The IAA Hawks made us all proud with their dedication and sportsmanship, as they took home the Silver Medal at the end of the two exciting days. Congratulations to ALL participating athletes for a great performance, and thank you to parents, coaches, referees and the Arab Bank for your enthusiastic participation and support. IAA looks forward to our next sporting event!
An Exhilarating Voyage Across the World
Friday, 31 October 2014
The IAA Model United Nations Delegation participated in the 13th annual AMMUN on the 31st of October at the Amman Baccalaureate School. IAA students had been preparing for approximately a month, researching their countries and topics, furiously writing resolutions in any free time, and reviewing them during MUN sessions after school. IAA delegate, Sarah Afahneh, writes, An educational voyage across the world, thats exactly what AMMUN is. Students meet with all kinds of people from around the world, with a wide range to meet and so little time! AMMUN permits you to tackle current global matters, broadening your political views on issues and the world. Most importantly however, AMMUN allows one to view the manner in which different countries and people approach certain issues, and it teaches one to work and interact with new and diverse people. Overall AMMUN was a great conference with which to start the year, leaving IAA delegates waiting eagerly for many more to come! To read more, click here. https://www.iaa.edu.jo/event/exhilarating.pdf
“Balloon Release” Fund-Raising
Thursday, 30 October 2014
In a symbolic show of support for the people of Gaza, the IAA Secondary Student Representative Council (SRC) organized a fund-raising Balloon Release on-campus last Thursday. IAA students donated their contributions in exchange for balloons featuring the colours of the Palestinian flag. Students then gathered to release the balloons into the sky as a symbol of solidarity. The SRC has not wasted time in exhibiting their leadership this year, and we look forward to more creative SRC activities!
