Food Technology

IAA offers its students a fully-equipped, state-of-the-art Food Technology Lab as part of its holistic educational programme. Students in Design Technology study one food unit every year during the five-year IB Middle Years Programme. The aim of each food unit is to give our students the opportunity to explore the world of gastronomy, using ingredients to develop creative dishes rather than recycle existing recipes. This allows our students to experiment with different cuisine and acquire a deeper understanding of how the fusion of ingredients can create amazing flavours and tastes. The Food Technology Lab hosts six ceramic hobs and ovens as well as a fridge freezer. Standard school kitchen equipment is also available to students. Kitchen safety and cleanliness are taught and monitored by IAA staff at all times. While the Lab is situated in the Secondary School building, it is also made accessible to Primary students throughout the year.
