President's Letter

Esteemed delegates,
Welcome to the Human Rights Council at IMUN'25! I'm Christina Imseeh, a sophomore at the International Academy - Amman, and it is my honour to serve as your president for this conference. I'm confident that, with the support of my honourable chairing panel, deputy president Talin Habash and chair Maya Dallal, this committee will be a truly memorable and educational experience for all of us.
The HRC is a committee that embodies this year's theme, "Pandora's Box" through both of our agendas. In the United States, the deportation of immigrants to Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador symbolizes the opening of the box, as it unleashes a chain of challenges, like poverty, violence, and instability, that affects not only individuals but entire nations. As delegates, the only "hope" left in the box is in your hands to shape throughout this conference. This topic allows you, as delegates, to develop real strategies and find plausible solutions to protect human rights.
Our second topic, the human rights violations against the Uyghur Muslims in China, represents another example of Pandora's box in the world today. Once the mass detentions and cultural persecution begin, they trigger harsh living conditions, constant fear, and global interference. Each day reveals further hidden abuses occurring in China, much like the endless issues released from Pandora's Box. The more the world turns away, the worse the suppression and violence grow. In this committee, it will be your task to debate how international action and cooperation can put an end to these injustices.
Delegates, I have complete faith in each of you, and I believe that over these three days, you will all rise to your full potential. I look forward to witnessing the passion, diplomacy, and determination you will bring to this committee.
Sincerely,
Christina Imseeh
President of the Human Rights Council
