President's Letter

Honorable Delegates,
I'm delighted to welcome you to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime at IMUN 2025. UNODC is a challenging and rewarding committee within this conference, and I'm privileged to be serving as your President for what I'm confident will be an intense, thought-provoking, and fruitful few days.
This year, we will be addressing two critical issues:
Addressing the implications of national-level drug legalisation on international drug control treaties.
Addressing the rise of organised criminal governance in post-conflict and fragile states.
These are issues of concern on a global scale. They will demand critical thinking, strong arguments, and the ability to negotiate effectively while keeping your country's core principles intact.
As your President, I expect the highest standards of debate and collaboration, and you should expect the same dedication from me and my fellow chairs. We will keep the sessions focused, fair, and productive, and we will make sure each delegate has the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to the success of this committee. Our goal is to push you to think deeper, speak with purpose, and work together to build resolutions that hold up to real-world scrutiny.
UNODC is a unique part of my MUN experience, it was the very first committee I chaired, and it's where I saw firsthand how powerful this forum can be when delegates commit themselves completely to the process. I know what it's like to want to make a difference and an impact, and this committee will be the space to do so.
I can't wait to meet each and every one of you. Come prepared, stay focused, and make every second you spend in this room worthwhile. If we each give our best, our work here will speak for itself long after the conference ends.
Sincerely,
Yusuf Alhaj
President of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime
